Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Game Delay

Crytek has confirmed a company restructuring resulting in the layoff of approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce. This follows financial difficulties faced by the company.

Simultaneously, Crytek announced a temporary halt to development on the next Crysis game, a decision made in Q3 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Internal efforts to reassign affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis title, proved unsuccessful. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future plans involve expanding content for Hunt: Showdown 1896, while the new Crysis game is indefinitely delayed. The company assures laid-off employees will receive severance and career support. Despite the challenges, Crytek remains positive about its long-term prospects, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
