Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for iOS and Android devices. This relaunch by Level Infinite, a Tencent subsidiary, marks a significant entry into the modern military shooter market, slated for a late January 2025 release. The game promises a blend of missions and modes emphasizing tactical gameplay.
For those unfamiliar, the Delta Force franchise is a veteran of the FPS genre, predating even Call of Duty. Drawing inspiration from the real-life US military special forces unit, the games have consistently featured realistic weaponry and gadgets. Tencent's revival includes a Warfare mode offering large-scale combat reminiscent of Battlefield, and an Operations mode focusing on extraction-style gameplay. A single-player campaign, inspired by the Battle of Mogadishu and the film Black Hawk Down, is also planned for 2025.
Addressing Cheating Concerns
Despite high anticipation, Delta Force has faced controversy regarding its approach to combating cheaters. Tencent's anti-cheat measures, implemented via its G.T.I. Security team, have been criticized for being overly aggressive. While these measures might be less impactful on mobile platforms, the initial negative reaction could affect overall player interest. The reduced likelihood of cheating on mobile, however, might still allow the game to meet expectations.
