Civilization 7 Updates Incoming Amidst Feedback

Civilization VII's rocky launch prompts developer response. Firaxis Games acknowledges player concerns regarding Civilization VII's less-than-stellar reception, currently boasting a 47% positive rating on Steam. Criticisms center not on core gameplay mechanics, but on a simplified, less intuitive interface and a perceived lack of content and features.

In direct response to this feedback, Firaxis has prioritized interface enhancements. Improvements will focus on map readability, menu navigation, and overall user-friendliness.

Planned additions include:

  • Multiplayer team functionality.
  • New map types.
  • Customization options (renaming religions and cities).

A significant update (1.1.0) is slated for a March release, incorporating balance adjustments and further refinements. While the full game launched February 11th, many reviewers feel it was released prematurely and requires substantial further development. The $70 price point has also faced considerable backlash, with players feeling it doesn't reflect the game's current state.

The Civilization fanbase eagerly awaits updates that address these issues, hoping to see the series return to its established standard of excellence and detail. The current iteration falls short of these expectations.
