Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
Warzone's recent struggles include a brief December 2024 matchmaking outage and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs. The latest issue, reported on January 6th, involves game freezes and crashes during loading, prompting an investigation by Raven Software.
Although the underlying bug remains unfixed (as of January 9th, according to the Trello bug tracker), Raven Software has temporarily suspended Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns about unwarranted penalties stemming from the glitch. Penalties will still apply for players who leave matches in progress.
This temporary fix mitigates the immediate frustration, but the persistent bugs—even after a major January 2025 update—remain a concern for players. The ongoing challenges highlight the significant workload facing the Warzone development team in addressing these issues.
