US Blocks Marvel Snap Due to TikTok Restrictions

Second Dinner, a studio based in California, developed the popular game Marvel Snap, which is published by Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Unfortunately, due to recent events, Marvel Snap has been banned alongside other ByteDance apps such as CapCut and Lemon8, resulting in its removal from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025. This unexpected move has left many players frustrated, particularly due to ongoing authorization issues. However, PC gamers can still access the game via Steam.

The developers at Second Dinner expressed their shock at the situation and are actively working to bring Marvel Snap back online. In an official statement on Platform X, they reassured fans, stating:

“Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”

One of the most frustrating aspects of this incident was the lack of prior warning to players. Many continued to make in-game purchases, unaware of the impending lockout. While Marvel Snap and some other ByteDance apps were affected, not all faced the same fate. For instance, games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain playable.

In other Marvel Snap news, the recent addition of the Moonstone card has been generating buzz among players. Moonstone, an ongoing card (4/6), fits perfectly into the game's Ongoing archetype, which is currently in need of new strategies. Her unique ability allows her to copy the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane, significantly boosting her power. Given the abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, which typically only generate power through their effects, Moonstone's ability to acquire these effects for free positions her as a potential game-changer in the meta.
