The Battle Cats: Step Back to the Sengoku Era!

Author: Eleanor Jan 23,2025

The Battle Cats celebrates 12 years of quirky cat-fueled battles! Ponos, the developer behind the enduringly popular mobile tower defense game, is marking this milestone with a new Sengoku-era ad campaign.

Featuring ninja cats, fish cats, and even the aptly named "Gross Cat," The Battle Cats' unique blend of bizarre charm and strategic gameplay continues to captivate players. This latest advertising push, a collaboration with R/GA, immerses viewers in the Sengoku period, blending historical aesthetics with the game's signature humor and iconic cat food cans.

The campaign, titled "The Way of the Cat," is a series of cinematic commercials that, according to this writer, are strangely compelling. Ponos' COO and Managing Director Seiichiro Sano states, “As we celebrate 12 years of The Battle Cats, we’re excited to challenge perceptions and showcase the game’s strategic depth. This collaboration with R/GA honours our heritage while inviting new players to experience the thrill of tactical gameplay in a fresh way.”
