Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each comprising two players sitting opposite each other. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to predict the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team will win in a given round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor; other players must then throw the same type of paper. The first player to successfully match the paper type wins the trick ("Bamh"). Tarneeb papers are superior to all other paper types; only a stronger Tarneeb paper can beat it.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are awarded based on whether the bidding team achieves their target number of Allmat. If they succeed, they add the number of Allmat won to their score. If they fail, the number of Allmat won by the opposing team is added to their score, and the bidding team loses points.
If a team wins 13 tricks without bidding for 13, they gain 16 points. If they bid for and win 13 tricks, they receive 26 points. Conversely, if a team bids for 13 tricks and fails, they lose 16 points.
The game concludes when a team reaches a total score of 41 or more points, declaring that team the winner.
