  • Following the conclusion of Pocket Gamer Connects in London, we had the chance to explore several exciting upcoming titles
  • One standout title that caught our attention was the word-based puzzle game WordPix
  • In WordPix, players deduce specific words based on visual clues—simple images that represent common (and sometimes not-so-common) terms

You might already know we recently attended Pocket Gamer Connects London, the flagship event hosted by our sister site. While the conference was packed with insights and industry trends, it also gave us early access to a handful of promising new mobile games. Among them, editor Dann Sullivan was particularly drawn to WordPix—a fresh and engaging word puzzle experience that feels both intuitive and mentally stimulating.

The core mechanic of WordPix is straightforward: you’re shown a series of minimalist images and must guess the correct word they represent. A spiky green fruit? That’s a Durian. A long-eared desert dweller? Definitely a Fennec. While the concept is simple, the game gradually increases in difficulty, offering a satisfying challenge that’s perfect for quick gaming sessions or longer bursts of brain training.

What sets WordPix apart is its variety of gameplay modes. Alongside classic solo play, you can dive into competitive multiplayer, testing your vocabulary against friends or random opponents. The "Beat the Boss" mode adds a fun twist, pitting you against AI challengers in themed rounds. Daily content keeps things fresh with a Word of the Day, Quote of the Day, and even a Sudoku-inspired mode for fans of number puzzles—ensuring there’s always something new to enjoy.

It’s no surprise WordPix stood out at the event. With its clean, user-friendly interface, smart visual design, and steadily escalating difficulty, it delivers exactly what mobile puzzle fans crave—accessibility, replayability, and just the right amount of challenge. As it heads toward global release this year, we’re hopeful the developers continue expanding its content and reach. For now, players in the US and UK can try WordPix on iOS, while Android users in the UK also have early access.
