Witcher 3 Gameplay Acknowledged as Needing Improvement

The Witcher 3's acclaimed status doesn't negate its flaws; its combat system, in particular, drew considerable criticism. In a recent interview, Witcher 4's director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged this weakness, highlighting gameplay and monster hunting as areas demanding significant upgrades.

"We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience," Kalemba stated.

The Witcher 4 trailer aims to showcase a more impactful and powerful monster-fighting experience, emphasizing improved choreography and emotional intensity. A substantial combat overhaul is anticipated. Reassuringly, CD Projekt Red recognizes the shortcomings of previous Witcher titles' combat and plans extensive improvements for Witcher 4, likely influencing future installments featuring Ciri as the protagonist of the new trilogy.

Interestingly, the developers also plan to include Triss's wedding. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest, originally set in Novigrad, saw Triss romantically involved with Castello and eager to marry him. Geralt aided in preparations, tasks including monster extermination, acquiring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift.
