Winter Veil Lore Unveiled in Captivating WoW Video

World of Warcraft's Festive Feast: A Lore-Filled Holiday Celebration

World of Warcraft (WoW) and PlatinumWoW have collaborated on a captivating lore video unveiling the rich history behind the in-game Feast of Winter Veil, WoW's equivalent of Christmas. This annual event features unique rewards and activities, often including new collectable items.

The video delves into the holiday's origins, exploring various in-game cultures' perspectives. It highlights the dwarven myth of Greatfather Winter, a Titan-forged giant who brings snow; the Tauren's traditions of reflection, renewal, and gratitude to the Earthmother; and the modern-day commercialization by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.

The Misadventures of Metzen the Reindeer

No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Blizzard executive Chris Metzen. The video recounts Metzen's comical and repeated kidnappings – by pirates and Dark Iron dwarves in Classic WoW, and later by the Grinch in the current version. The video concludes with a humorous thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's voice (fittingly, as Thrall is voiced by Metzen).

A Growing Collaboration

This isn't the first collaboration between WoW and PlatinumWoW. PlatinumWoW has previously created lore videos covering Nerubians, Vrykul, the Scourge, World Trees, Blackrock Depths, and even seasonal events. Blizzard's recent partnerships with content creators also include Taliesin & Evitel's guides for returning Dragonflight players and Hurricane's stunning WoW Classic cinematic trailers.

Winter Veil Festivities Continue!

Players can still participate in the Feast of Winter Veil until January 5th, 2024. This year's highlights include a tamable Dreaming Festive Reindeer for Hunters, new holiday transmogs, and the Grunch pet. Don't forget to check for a special gift under the tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind! Last year's gift was the delightful Junior Timekeeper's Racing Belt toy.
