"Tribe Nine Canceled Just Three Months Post-Launch"

Author: Harper May 26,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers will be shut off on November 27th, and any upcoming updates are now cancelled. This marks an acrimonious end for Tribe Nine, which just a couple of months ago celebrated over ten million downloads. Inspired by the anime series of the same name and featuring stunning art by Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, the game offered traditional ARPG gameplay along with the unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series will recognize.

The abrupt termination of Tribe Nine continues a disheartening trend over the last few years, with numerous releases being cancelled after less than a year of service. For many fans, this can make it seem futile to invest in new games, given the ever-present threat of an End of Service (EOS) announcement. It's particularly puzzling considering that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has also been featured in the well-received Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on other platforms. Yet, Tribe Nine being ditched so soon after its launch might negatively impact developer Akatsuki Games' reputation.

With another anime-based release, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely hoping to attract fans of the existing series. However, casual players might be wary due to the developer's track record, fearing a repeat of the Tribe Nine scenario. Either way, for fans of Tribe Nine, it's not exactly a happy Friday.

Despite this setback, there are still plenty of great releases to explore. Why not check out our latest feature covering the top five new mobile games to try this week for some of our top picks?

In response to the shutdown, Akatsuki Games has announced that paid Enigma Entities will be refunded, and in-game purchases will be halted to ensure a smooth transition for players.
