In a surprising move, publisher Zynga has revealed plans to sunset Star Wars Hunters entirely mere months post-launch, effectively canceling its anticipated PC release on Steam.
The free-to-play team arena battler developed by NaturalMotion debuted on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms in June 2024. Our team at IGN scored it Star Wars: Hunters a respectable 7/10, noting: "This playful PvP romp delivers Death Star-sized entertainment... briefly. Just don't expect reasons to stick around long-term."
Our assessment proved oddly prophetic. Zynga confirmed via official statement that after "extensive evaluation," the final content update arrives April 15, with gameplay servers remaining operational until October 1.

"We recognize this news hits hard," Zynga's statement continued. "This wasn't an easy call. The incredible Hunter community means everything to us, and we'll maintain transparency throughout this transition."
Here's the shutdown roadmap:
March 25: Season 5 extends three extra weeks with recycled events and shop bundles. Ranked competitors gain additional time to chase Kyber 1 status.
April 15: The farewell update drops featuring new Support Hunter Tuya (instantly unlocked for all), plus bonus content. Microtransactions permanently disabled.
October 1: Lights out. Servers go dark, terminating all gameplay access.
Notably absent from announcements? The planned Steam version, promised for early access this year. The store page now bears an "unavailable" notice.
This marks a significant pivot for mobile-focused Zynga (FarmVille, CSR Racing), whose foray into console publishing began with Hunters. The PC edition would've been their debut in that space.
"Overwhelming Switch/mobile reception drove our PC expansion," Zynga's Yaron Leyvan stated last November. "We're thrilled to introduce Vespaara to new platforms."
