  • The popular manhwa series Solo Leveling is getting another mobile game adaptation.
  • Solo Leveling: Karma is an upcoming roguelite single-player RPG.
  • The game is set during a major time gap in the original storyline.

While we've grown accustomed to pop culture hits becoming global rather than regional, some sensations still seem to appear overnight from unexpected places. Take Solo Leveling, for instance, which previously arrived on mobile with the ARPG spin-off Arise. Now, the franchise is set to make another impact with the forthcoming roguelite action RPG, Solo Leveling: Karma.

For those unfamiliar, Solo Leveling is a manhwa series set in a world of demons and demon hunters. The protagonist, Sung Jin-woo, starts as one of the weakest hunters, but after a near-fatal encounter, he gains a mysterious ability to level up his powers. This quickly transforms him from an underdog into an overpowered hero.

Solo Leveling: Karma takes place during a period known as the 27-year gap. If you haven't read the manhwa or seen the anime yet, be warned—spoilers ahead!

Beyond the Gap

Ah, the classic time-skip—a staple of anime that fans both love and lament. Karma will let players experience the 27-year period in which Sung Jin-woo traveled to another dimension to confront the demons threatening Earth. Though only two years passed in real time, he endured over two decades of combat, offering rich material for a game like Karma.

Solo Leveling: Karma is scheduled for release on mobile and PC. While specific details remain scarce, the trailer showcases fast-paced, Diablo-inspired combat and a variety of flashy skills for Jin-woo to master.
