I find my enthusiasm for Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows. I dive in deeply when a new set is released and keep the momentum going as long as there are Emblems to earn for securing around 40 wins. Once that's done, my routine shifts to logging in daily, opening my packs, and doing a Wonder Pick for fun before moving on until the next day. This cycle is set to kick off again with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will inject 110 new cards into the TCG Pocket ecosystem, featuring a blend of new Ex Pokemon, Trainer cards, and the stunning art cards we all cherish. The most thrilling aspect, hinted at by the expansion's name, is the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon! For those new to the concept, these are unique color variations of your beloved creatures. Imagine a yellow Lucario instead of blue, or a Pachirisu with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers just a glimpse of the excitement to come. Let's delve into what was showcased. A new Shiny Charizard Ex is on the horizon, boasting 180 HP and a formidable attack called Steam Artillery that delivers 150 damage. However, it demands a hefty five energy. Its alternative move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards in one go, offering a strategic advantage.
Another standout Ex card is Lucario. Previously more of a supporting player in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is primed for frontline combat. With 150 HP, it might not seem spectacular, but its Aura Sphere attack is noteworthy. For three Fighting Energy, it inflicts 100 damage and also hits one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon for 30.
The trailer also teases other cards that might not be game-changers but are still visually appealing. Shiny Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are among those showcased and they look fantastic. Additionally, there's a breathtaking Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
