Shift Up, the developer behind the acclaimed action RPG Stellar Blade, has reported a record-breaking year financially, thanks in large part to the success of their latest title. The game has generated a staggering $43 million in royalties, contributing significantly to the company's impressive revenue of $151.4 million in 2024, marking a 30.4% increase from the previous year. This financial success underscores the growing popularity of Stellar Blade, which has resonated well with gamers worldwide.

The momentum for Stellar Blade shows no signs of waning. Shift Up is optimistic about the upcoming PC version, expecting it to outperform the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian gaming market. This anticipated success on PC could further cement Stellar Blade's position as a leading title in the action RPG genre.

Looking ahead, Shift Up is not resting on its laurels. The company plans to unveil its next project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. While this new game was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch in 2024, it's not a sequel to the popular title. However, Shift Up has indicated that they are considering developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise, hinting at potential future expansions.

Stellar Blade immerses players in the role of Eve, tasked with battling mysterious invaders to reclaim Earth through exhilarating, fast-paced combat. The game received a 7/10 rating from IGN, praised for its action mechanics but critiqued for its characters, narrative, and certain RPG elements. Despite these critiques, Stellar Blade has proven to be a hit, quickly reaching the milestone of one million copies sold.

"Stellar Blade excels in the core aspects that define an action game, yet it falls short due to unengaging characters, a lackluster story, and some frustrating RPG mechanics, preventing it from reaching the pinnacle of its genre," IGN's review concluded.
