If you're aiming for the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing certain tasks is crucial. One such task is saving Sam, which significantly contributes to achieving that perfect conclusion. Knowing exactly where to find Sam can make all the difference in your journey to perfection.
Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"
As you approach the climax of the main quest line, you discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer's Camp. He was captured by Brabant, and your chance to save him comes during the main quest "Reckoning." However, you can't simply stroll into the camp and liberate him. You have the choice between stealth and violence to infiltrate the camp.
To move freely within the camp without arousing suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can obtain this by either killing a guard and stealing his attire—making sure to hide the body—or by looting one from the various chests scattered around the camp. Once you equip the outfit, you're free to explore the camp in search of Sam without being questioned.

Sam is located in the barn on the left side of the camp, past the open area with a cooking fire. To reach him, use the ladder on the side of the barn and drop down inside, where you'll confront Brabant. At this juncture, you have a critical decision to make: you can either kill or spare Brabant. Choosing to spare him aligns with the path to the best ending, but the choice is ultimately yours.
When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to escort him out of the camp. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also present in the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, and finally return to Sam to facilitate his escape. Sam can wait safely in the barn, and handling the tasks in this order simplifies the process, especially since you'll need to carry him to the horse.
Von Aulitz is situated in the main part of the camp. Wearing the guard's outfit allows you to bypass the guards at his door and enter freely. Upon finding him, you'll discover that he's already dying. He requests a dignified death, which is the most honorable choice you can grant. Alternatively, you can kill him cruelly or leave him to die slowly. While these choices have minor impacts, leaving him to die contributes to the best ending.
Your final steps involve retrieving Sam and securing a horse. Return to the barn where you left Sam. If a guard questions your actions, simply explain that you're moving the body, which will dispel any suspicion. Proceed to the camp's gates, exit, and turn right to circumvent the camp's perimeter.

Follow the perimeter until you reach the stables, choose a horse, and escape with Sam. This action brings you one step closer to completing *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's* main quests and achieving the best possible ending.
