"Ryan Gosling Stars in 'Star Wars: Starfighter' - Premiering May 2027"

Lucasfilm has officially unveiled Star Wars: Starfighter, a fresh cinematic entry helmed by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool & Wolverine) starring Ryan Gosling, with a theatrical release scheduled for May 28, 2027. Additionally, the story is set five years after the conclusion of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

This announcement was made during Star Wars Celebration, where it was confirmed that principal photography will commence this autumn.

In a touching moment, Gosling shared that his mother sent him a vintage photo of his childhood Star Wars bedsheets upon landing the lead role.

Star Wars: Starfighter joins the expanding slate of upcoming Star Wars films, which includes The Mandalorian & Grogu, projects from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Taika Waititi, as well as a trilogy directed by Simon Kinberg.

Fans may recognize the title Starfighter, as it was previously used for a video game released in 2001.
