R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed

R.E.P.O., the co-op horror game that launched in February, has captivated over 200,000 players on PC. But will this thrilling title make its way to consoles? Here’s the latest on that front.

Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?

As of now, R.E.P.O. remains exclusively a PC game, with no plans announced for a console release. The developer, semiwork, is currently focused on refining the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some challenges.

The primary hurdle they face is maintaining the integrity of the game's multiplayer environment while preventing it from becoming a breeding ground for cheats. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained to PCGamer. This focus on resolving these issues takes precedence over any potential console port.

While other PC-only games like Mouthwashing have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that Mouthwashing is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly themed games such as Lethal Company and Content Warning, which involve sneaking past monsters, have also stayed PC-exclusive. Last year, the developers of Content Warning mentioned considering a console version but cited technical difficulties, and no further updates have been provided since.
