PS5 Price Rises Again in Europe, Australia, New Zealand

Sony has announced a price adjustment for the PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, attributing the decision to the challenging economic climate characterized by high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates. This information was officially shared through a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Effective from April 14, the new recommended retail prices (RRPs) for the PS5 models are as follows:

  • Europe: The PS5 Digital Edition will now be priced at €500, with no change to the standard PS5 with disc drive.
  • UK: The PS5 Digital Edition will be available for £430, maintaining the same price for the standard PS5 with disc drive.
  • Australia: The standard PS5 with disc drive will cost AUD $830, while the PS5 Digital Edition will be AUD $750.
  • New Zealand: The standard PS5 with disc drive will be priced at NZD $950, and the PS5 Digital Edition at NZD $860.

It's worth noting that the price of the PS5 Pro remains unchanged.

These adjustments follow similar price increases implemented in 2022, making the PS5 significantly more expensive in several regions compared to its initial launch prices. In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition has seen a €100/£70 increase from its launch price of €400/£360. In Australia, the standard PS5 is now AUD $80 more expensive than its launch price of AUD $750, and the digital edition has risen by AUD $150 from AUD $600. New Zealand has experienced a NZD $130 increase for the standard PS5 from NZD $820, and a NZD $210 hike for the digital version from NZD $650.

Interestingly, the RRP of the PS5 disc drive is being reduced to €80/£70/AUD $125/NZD $140.
