Midjiwan has unleashed a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia: a complete overhaul of the Aquarion Tribe. This marks a substantial refresh for the game's first special tribe, originally introduced in 2017.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion units now boast mermaid tails, making them either fully aquatic or amphibious. This allows for effortless water traversal, although land movement is slower. A key addition is flooded terrain, enabling land and naval units to occupy the same space for the first time.
The Aquarion's infrastructure has also received an aquatic makeover. Buildings can now be constructed on water, with Lost Cities nestled within deep-sea ruins, providing an ideal watery stronghold. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, now a permanent feature, function similarly to land-based crops.
New aquatic adversaries have also emerged. Sharks provide surprise attacks, Puffers offer long-range bombardment, and Jellies unleash electric shocks. Returning favorites include the Tridentions and Crabs, the latter now flooding tiles they traverse, complementing the mermaid-tailed troops. See the changes in action:
