- Dondozo makes its first appearance in raids and wild encounters
- Catch regional Oricorio and Tatsugiri variants too
- Complete Field and Timed Research for a variety of rewards
Niantic is making waves this summer with the Sunkissed Shores event, running from August 25th to 31st. The headline attraction is Paldea's massive blue heavyweight, Dondozo, making its Pokémon Go debut in both raids and encounters with Shiny availability from day one.
During the Sunkissed Shores event in Pokémon Go, you can catch the Big Catfish Pokémon while earning double XP for raid victories. Wild spawns receive a beach-themed refresh with increased appearances from Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, and Lechonk. All four Oricorio styles and Alolan Exeggutor will also appear occasionally.
Raids will feature region-exclusive Tatsugiri forms in one-star battles: Curly in Europe, Droopy in the Americas, and Stretchy in Asia-Pacific, alongside visor-wearing Slakoth. Three-star raids will include Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and Dondozo itself. All three have potential Shiny variants if you're lucky. Check our August raid schedule to maximize your training journey!

Field Research tasks reward encounters with event Pokémon, while two Timed Research options provide additional objectives. The free Timed Research offers up to 10,000 XP, 7,000 Stardust, and themed Pokémon encounters. The paid Timed Research ($1.99) includes 3,000 Stardust, two Premium Battle Passes, and encounters with visor Slakoth and Dondozo.
For collectors, the Pokémon Go Web Store introduces limited-time ticket bundles. The Sunkissed Shores Ultra Ticket Box contains an event ticket plus three Max Revives, while the Berry Chic Ultra Ticket Box offers an event ticket with five Ultra Balls, both available for $1.99.
Keep an eye out for Shadow Kyogre, joining Pokémon Go starting August 16th during the ongoing Taken Over event. Once you've completed that, prepare for the Max Finale - an absolutely mind-boggling adventure awaits.
