Netflix has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his contributions to the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay for this adaptation. While Derek Kolstad, who initially worked on the story adaptation for Sifu, may still be part of the project, his current involvement remains uncertain.

The project's allure has attracted top-tier talent, with Chad Stahelski, the visionary behind the John Wick franchise, joining as an executive producer through his company, 87Eleven Entertainment. Stahelski is also involved in another major video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, highlighting his growing influence in the film industry.

Since its release in 2022, Sifu has captivated gamers worldwide, selling over one million copies in just three weeks. The game centers on a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them significantly, the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and intrigue.
