For fans eagerly awaiting news of The Last of Us Part 3, series creator Neil Druckmann recently poured cold water on those hopes. In an interview with Variety, primarily focused on the TV series, Druckmann responded to the inevitable Part 3 question with a decisive, "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

His statement leaves the future of the game series uncertain. Naughty Dog is currently developing Intergalactic, a title announced at The Game Awards 2022, with no release date yet revealed, suggesting a significant time commitment. This leaves little room for The Last of Us Part 3 in the immediate future. Druckmann's words could be strategic ambiguity, a genuine reflection of current plans, or simply a statement of his current intentions. Only time will tell.

However, fans still have the The Last of Us TV series to look forward to. Season two premieres April 13th on Max, and while the total number of seasons remains unconfirmed, HBO executives have suggested a four-season arc.
