Mortal Kombat 1 Dataminer Discovers Animations for Hara-Kiri Fatalities — and They Could Be Coming as Quitalities

Exciting news for fans of the gory fighting game, Mortal Kombat 1, as a dataminer has uncovered what appears to be strong evidence suggesting the return of Hara-Kiri Fatalities, potentially in the form of Quitalities. Redditor InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing what seem to be Hara-Kiri animations, a feature first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception back in 2004, where the defeated player performs a self-Fatality.

The discovery is particularly intriguing because InfiniteNightZ found these animations for recently added DLC characters like Ghostface, suggesting that NetherRealm Studios might be planning to integrate them into Mortal Kombat 1 in an upcoming update. "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible," InfiniteNightZ commented.

Furthermore, InfiniteNightZ pointed out that these Hara-Kiri animations are labeled as Quitalities within the game's code. Quitalities are quick finishers that activate when a player quits a multiplayer match, a feature seen in previous Mortal Kombat titles. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ added optimistically.

Following InfiniteNightZ's revelation, another well-known Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer, Interloko, discovered additional Hara-Kiri animations, further supporting the speculation.

Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one.

I didn't try to trigger it in the game because I'm bussy finishing some stuff of the demo of my own game https://t.co/TqBKyauY0G pic.twitter.com/hL4QzLRXwf

While these findings are exciting, it's important to note that neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games has officially announced the inclusion of Quitalities in Mortal Kombat 1. As such, these animations might not make it into the final game.

Mortal Kombat 1 has recently seen a surge in popularity with the addition of a secret fight against Floyd, the pink ninja, and the community's efforts to unlock him. Fans also have the T-1000 guest character to look forward to, with potential for more DLC on the horizon, though nothing has been confirmed by NetherRealm yet.
