Minecraft Live 2025: Vibrant Visuals, Flying Happy Ghast, and Everything Announced

Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. The first game drop of the year, titled "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25 and promises to breathe new life into the Overworld. This update will feature new variants of familiar mobs like cows, pigs, and chickens, along with enchanting ambient additions such as the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and whispers of sand, all designed to make biomes feel more immersive and alive.

The second game drop, though yet unnamed, will introduce a fascinating new block called the Dried Ghast. This block, slightly smaller than a regular block and adorned with cute tentacles and a grumpy face, can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling—a baby ghast. With nurturing, the Ghastling can evolve into a Happy Ghast, a new mob variant capable of carrying up to four players using a Ghast harness. This feature not only adds a thrilling new way to explore the game world but also enhances Survival Mode building by offering a platform to position wherever you like in the sky.

In addition to these game updates, Mojang shared a new clip for the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event starting on March 25. This event, set in Midport Village, will immerse players in a multiplayer experience alongside Steve and his movie companions, defending the village from piglin attacks through three engaging mini-games. Participants who complete all challenges will earn the coveted Yearn cape. The event runs from March 25 to April 7.

During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the studio's stance on future developments. Mojang confirmed they have no plans to create a Minecraft 2, transition the game to a free-to-play model, or use generative AI for game development.
