Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Mid-Season Proves Too Controversial, Prompting Reversal

Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision on mid-season player rank resets following significant player feedback. Read on to learn about the revised plans and other upcoming game updates.

Marvel Rivals Reverses Mid-Season Rank Reset Plan

Dev Talk 11: Seasonal Rank Adjustments Revised

Following player backlash to Dev Talk 10, which detailed a mid-season rank reset dropping players four divisions, Marvel Rivals has issued Dev Talk 11. This update clarifies that the previously announced mid-season rank reset is cancelled. Players will retain their ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset, dropping players six divisions, remains in effect.

The initial plan for mid-season resets, occurring every 45 days, proved controversial, with players expressing concerns about the discouraging impact on rank progression.

Human Torch, The Thing, and More Still Coming

Despite the change to the mid-season reset, other planned updates are proceeding as scheduled. The highly anticipated release of Human Torch and The Thing will expand the hero roster to 39 characters. This aligns with NetEase Games' previous statement of adding two new playable characters per three-month season.

Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above remain unchanged. Players achieving Gold rank will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor (for Grandmaster and above), will be awarded at the end of the season.

Balance adjustments are also planned following the mid-season update, though specific details are yet to be revealed.

Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to creating the best possible game experience, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
