Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is making waves on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase has confirmed the game won't be coming to the original Nintendo Switch due to performance limitations. But what about the Nintendo Switch 2?

Speaking at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu revealed a potential Switch 2 release. He stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. Whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we're open to that. The reason why we didn't launch it onto the Switch was that the first generation device couldn't provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we're open to that."

PlayOfficially announced last month, the Nintendo Switch 2 promises a more powerful system with enhanced capabilities. Rumored mouse-like controller functionality could potentially improve the shooter experience, though specifics remain unclear.

While a release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 is still pending (a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd), Marvel Rivals is available now on other platforms. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating it "may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooters that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself." The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
