To catch Ditto in *Pokemon GO*, you first need to familiarize yourself with its latest disguises, which include a variety of different Pocket Monsters. Ditto, known as the Transform Pokemon, has been a part of the game for years, and its unique ability to hide as other creatures adds an exciting layer of challenge to the game, similar to the mechanics introduced with Zorua.
The disguises Ditto can take on change over time, but we have the most current list for you right here.

As of March 2025, Ditto can disguise itself as Bergmite, Bidoof, Goldeen, Gothita, Koffing, Numel, Oddish, Rhyhorn, Solosis, Spinarak, and Stufful. These disguises are depicted in the image above. If you encounter and catch any of these Pokemon as regular wild spawns on your in-game map, there's a chance they might be a hidden Ditto.
To catch Ditto in *Pokemon GO*, you need to catch it in its disguised form. After capturing it, Ditto will revert to its original form before you reach the catch screen, where you can decide whether to keep or transfer it. You'll know you've caught a disguised Ditto when you see an "Oh?" pop up over your PokeBall. Once that happens, the caught Pokemon will transform into Ditto, and you'll have successfully added the elusive gooey-looking Pocket Monster to your collection.

How Rare is Ditto in Pokemon GO?
Even with knowledge of its latest disguises, Ditto remains relatively rare in *Pokemon GO*. However, there's a key indicator to help you identify a disguised Ditto: its low CP. Ditto's CP is typically lower than the Pokemon it mimics. For example, if you're a Level 50 Trainer, Ditto's maximum CP would be around 940, while Goldeen's max CP is approximately 1302. By keeping an eye out for Pokemon with unusually low CP, you can increase your chances of catching a Ditto.

How Rare Is a Shiny Ditto in Pokemon GO?

In *Pokemon GO*, the chance of encountering a Shiny Ditto in the wild is 1 in 64, making it extremely rare. Not only do you need to find a Ditto by identifying a Pokemon that's actually the purple blob in disguise, but you also need additional luck for that Ditto to be a Shiny variant.
To boost your chances of finding a Shiny Ditto, you can use spawn-increasing items like Incenses and Lure Modules to increase the number of spawns in general, hoping that some of these will be Ditto. Even without spending PokeCoins on extra items, you can use your free Daily Adventure Incense to briefly enhance your odds of encountering a Ditto, or even a Shiny one, during its 15-minute duration.
