League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests following player feedback. Read on to learn about this update and other changes coming to LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Decisions
The Return of Hextech Chests
Responding to player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is reinstating Hextech Chests. A developer update, posted on February 27, 2025, on Riot Games' website and YouTube channel, detailed upcoming changes.Riot Games acknowledged recent unpopular updates, stating, "Recently, we’ve made changes that didn’t resonate with everyone. Your feedback is clear: adjustments are needed."
The return of Hextech Chests was a key request. LoL explained, "For many, Hextech Chests weren't just rewards; they were integral to the rewarding experience of League. We underestimated their importance, leading to poorly received changes."
Hextech Chests return in patch 25.05, with players earning up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests are earned through the free pass, and two via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed & Further Fan-Driven Changes
The Exalted Mordekaiser skin, and the entire Exalted skin line, has been delayed. Riot Games aims to "ensure it better reflects its core fantasy." This means fewer Exalted skins will launch this year than originally planned.
Further responding to player feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about Mythic Essence scarcity in the paid pass and the number of champions per seasonal theme.
To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Clash, previously slated for less frequent events, will return to a monthly schedule. March will feature ARURF Clash, followed by regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a comeback. Your Shop returns in patch 25.06, and the Emporium in 25.07.
Riot Games concluded, "Improving League isn't a one-time fix, but continuous refinement. These updates are a significant step, and we'll continue monitoring player feedback and making adjustments." This demonstrates Riot Games' commitment to incorporating player feedback. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest news.
