Leaked Screenshots Hint at Jet Set Radio Remake

Alleged Leaks Surface for the Upcoming Jet Set Radio Remake

Recent online activity suggests that images and video footage from Sega's highly anticipated Jet Set Radio remake have been leaked. This follows Sega's December announcement of the remake as part of a broader initiative to revitalize classic games for a new generation of players.

While Sega has remained tight-lipped since the initial reveal at the 2023 Game Awards, leaker Midori has reportedly offered updates on the project for months, alongside information about other Sega remakes including Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter, and Golden Axe. Midori's previous claims indicated separate plans for a Jet Set Radio reboot (a live-service game) and a remake (without live-service elements).

Twitter user MSKAZZY69 shared four purported screenshots from a development build of the remake, including map and gameplay visuals, citing Midori as the source. MSKAZZY69 further described the game as a "complete remake of the original, totally separate from the new one," emphasizing its "open-world" nature. This aligns with Midori's previous statements about graffiti, shooting mechanics, and open-world exploration with a new storyline.

The authenticity of these leaks is questionable, however, as Midori has since deleted their social media presence. Adding to the intrigue, a YouTube video emerged showcasing gameplay footage with a visual style consistent with the leaked screenshots. Both the images and video present updated, more realistic character and environment designs. The video depicts protagonist Beat engaging in graffiti art, skateboarding tricks, and exploring Tokyo.

Despite the leaks, the Jet Set Radio remake remains years from release, with a 2026 launch date being the earliest expectation. While the leaked material has generated excitement, its veracity remains unconfirmed. Similar remakes of other classic titles, including Alex Kidd and House of the Dead, are also reportedly underway. Until Sega provides official confirmation, any information from unofficial sources should be treated with caution.
