It appears that some early gameplay footage of EA's upcoming Battlefield game has leaked online, following closed playtesting.
As reported by TheGamer, a Twitch user named anto_merguezz appears to have streamed footage from EA's closed Battlefield Labs playtest, which allowed a small group of players to try out early versions of the game to help developers fine-tune their work. Although no clips of the stream are available on anto_merguezz's page, someone recorded the footage and shared it across various online platforms, with Reddit being a primary hub for its circulation.
The leaked footage seems to confirm the "modern" setting that Vince Zampella previously teased, setting it apart from other Battlefield games with historical or futuristic themes. Viewers get a glimpse of intense firefights and the game's signature destructible environments. Fans have expressed positive reactions to the footage, which bodes well for the game's reception, especially after the lukewarm launch of Battlefield 2042.
We already had some insights into what to expect from the next Battlefield game following its initial official unveiling last month. It's been confirmed that the new installment will feature a return to a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a move that has been warmly received by players who missed this element in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
EA is currently targeting a release for its next Battlefield game within fiscal 2026, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026. As the launch date approaches, we can anticipate more official reveals from EA. Given the recent leaks, it seems increasingly likely that EA will need to unveil more about Battlefield 6 (or whatever it ends up being called) sooner rather than later.
