Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has confirmed another substantial update set for release in 2025. This eagerly awaited update will bring a host of new features, including crossplay support and a photo mode. One of the most exciting additions is the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each designed to enrich the gameplay with unique mechanics.

Details about four of these subclasses have already been shared, and now we're diving into the remaining ones:

Oath of the Crown Paladin: This subclass is dedicated to upholding justice and order, with the welfare of society at its core. The Oath of the Crown Paladin possesses the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage to allies but also restores their health, making it an invaluable asset in any party.

Arcane Archer: Combining martial prowess with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer is a formidable opponent. Their enchanted arrows can blind, weaken, or even exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. Moreover, if an arrow misses its target, the Arcane Archer can redirect its path to strike another enemy, ensuring no shot goes to waste.

Drunken Master Monk: This subclass incorporates alcohol into its fighting techniques, adding a unique twist to combat. The Drunken Master Monk's signature move intoxicates foes, leaving them disoriented while enhancing the monk's own abilities. Using Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target inflicts both physical and mental damage, making it a versatile and unpredictable fighter.

Swarmkeeper Ranger: Harnessing the power of nature, the Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with swarms of creatures. These swarms not only shield the ranger from harm but also assist with teleportation. In combat, they can deploy three types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters that deliver shocks, blinding moth clouds that obscure vision, and stinging bee legions that knock back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.

With these new subclasses, players will have even more options to customize their characters and explore new strategies in Baldur's Gate 3. The 2025 update promises to keep the game fresh and engaging for both new and returning players.
