An important detail to note is that while *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* is playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server is exclusively available for PC players. If you're on a PC, accessing the public test server is straightforward through Steam.

PC players can easily find *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2* in their Steam library, where the public test server will appear as a separate title directly below the main game. Remember, you must own a copy of *Space Marine 2* on Steam to access this server. Once you locate the public test server, simply download and install it. It functions as a standalone build, separate from the main game.

The *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* public test server offers a range of new content for both PvE and PvP modes, including new weapons and expanded customization options. The focus of the test server is primarily on PvE, featuring a new map, relaxed class restrictions on weapons, and updated online gameplay features. Keep in mind that this content is still in development and subject to change before the official release.

In terms of online gameplay, the public test server introduces enhanced matchmaking for both PvE and PvP, with improved team balancing. The PvE system aims to minimize instances of multiple players selecting the same class on one team and includes a prestige leveling system. For PvP, there are expanded customization options in the lobby to enrich the multiplayer experience.

If you have mods installed for *Space Marine 2*, they won't work in the public test server. Additionally, any custom content you create on the test server won't carry over to the main game, as the test server is a separate build. There's no official confirmation on whether progress or content from the test server will transfer to the main game, though it's unlikely.
