The cameras are officially rolling on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. To mark this exciting milestone, DC boss James Gunn took to Bluesky to share the first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Supergirl. The photo features Alcock seated in her actor's chair, offering fans a tantalizing sneak peek at the character.

Gunn's post expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms that Gillespie, known for directing Cruella and I, Tonya, will be steering the ship for this new installment in the DC universe.

While details about the plot remain under wraps, we know that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will draw heavily from the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira. The comic follows a standalone narrative centered on an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel was nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards and is a must-read for fans.

The cast is shaping up to be stellar, with Matthias Schoenaerts set to portray Krem, and Eve Ridley playing Ruthye. Additionally, David Krumholtz will take on the role of Supergirl's father, Zor-El, while Emily Beecham will play Supergirl's mother. Notably, Jason Momoa has been recast in the DC universe as the iconic character Lobo.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the newly revamped DC universe, following James Gunn's Superman, which is slated to hit theaters this summer. Other projects in development include The Batman Part II (which may or may not be connected to Gunn's cinematic universe) and a rumored Clayface movie from Mike Flanagan.
