"Infinity Nikki Fans Threaten Boycott Over Update 1.5 Changes"

Author: Nova May 23,2025

Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have hit Steam, but instead of a smooth launch, they've been met with a parade of drama. Infold Games' stylish dress-up adventure made its way to Valve's digital storefront after months of Epic Game Store exclusivity. What should have been a celebration for fans has turned into a struggle with technical issues, unexpected design changes, and demanding outfit requirements. The developers have issued an apology and promised compensation, yet the battle for Infinity Nikki is far from over.

PC players eager to dive into Infinity Nikki on Steam were disappointed by a range of technical problems, including crashes and general instability that prevented the game from launching. While technical issues at launch are not uncommon, the influx of players also brought attention to other grievances.

The new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, introduced in the update, consist of 11 pieces, requiring up to 220 pulls to complete a set. This is a significant increase from what players are accustomed to and came without prior warning. There's concern that the number of pieces required for future outfits will continue to grow.

Adding to the confusion, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks. Amid these technical issues and the introduction of more demanding monetization practices, the Chinese player base voiced their concerns on the social media platform RedNote. This quickly escalated into a global movement, with players calling for a boycott of Infinity Nikki on Steam, urging others to leave negative reviews and uninstall the game across all platforms.

"Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players," said Reddit user kiaxxl in a call-to-action post. They highlighted that for gacha games, the success of new content is often gauged within the first few days, suggesting that delaying pulls could send a strong message to the game's developers.

The backlash has impacted the game's reputation, resulting in a "Mixed" rating on Steam as players leave negative reviews, advising newcomers to steer clear until their demands are addressed.

The boycott gained enough momentum that Infold issued an apology letter across its official channels, acknowledging the technical issues and promising improved communication about future changes. "Thank you again for your support," the message read. "We know we still have shortcomings, but it's because of your companionship that Nikki can keep pushing the boundaries of imagination. Please give us another chance to let Nikki's starlight continue shining for all of us, ensuring our sincerity never fades."

Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,

Hope this message finds you well.

First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

The apology included promises to revert Mira Crown to end on May 16 and start the next season the same day, alongside compensation of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While this is a step forward, it falls short of the comprehensive changes many players were hoping for.

Some players see Infold's concessions as a victory, yet others remain wary, particularly about the decision to maintain the 11-piece requirement for new outfits. Despite the studio's commitment to better communication, it seems that some five-star outfits will still demand 11 pieces.

I wish you would finally change the drop rate.. it can't be that I need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!

Despite the partial success, Infinity Nikki stylists are encouraged to keep up the pressure. "Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will be 11 pieces," said Reddit user EdensAsmr. "Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will not cut it."
