Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Ghostly Reconnaissance
In Phasmophobia, tackling the most elusive specters often requires utilizing risky yet rewarding Cursed Possessions. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful, relatively safe option. This guide explains its mechanics and usage.
The Haunted Mirror offers a significant advantage with minimal risk, making it a highly recommended Cursed Object. Its function remains consistent across game updates: it reveals the ghost's current favored room on the map. This panoramic view significantly speeds up ghost location, allowing for strategic equipment placement before the investigation intensifies.
The Haunted Mirror typically appears hanging on a wall (like in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or on the floor in a predetermined location. Cursed Objects always spawn in the same spot on each map; the randomness lies in which Cursed Object appears.
To use it, pick up the mirror and interact with it (using the appropriate button on your mouse or controller). The reflection displays the ghost's current haunt. However, on Professional difficulty and above, remember that the ghost's location can shift after a time.
Caution: prolonged gazing into the mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the full duration shatters the mirror, triggering a Cursed Hunt at your location. Use it wisely when your sanity is high and you understand the reflection's implications.
Understanding Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia
Cursed Possessions, or "Cursed Objects," are unique, randomly spawning items in Phasmophobia. Their appearance can be influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode.
Unlike standard equipment (which safely provides ghost evidence), Cursed Objects offer advantages at a higher risk to your character. The risk level varies between objects, leaving the decision to use them to you and your team. There's no penalty for ignoring them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Summoning Circle
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
