The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* introduced a new item called Essence Stones, which are essential for unlocking several new gameplay features. These stones come in various sizes and are crucial for completing daily tasks efficiently. Let's explore where to find them, how to craft them, and their uses within the game.
Where To Find Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
Following the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be discovered inside chests scattered throughout the mines in *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter with these stones was while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but you can find them on any level across various biomes. Be cautious, though, as some chests might be mimics that can harm you upon interaction.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more common, diligent exploration can lead you to larger deposits. If you're struggling to find them, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery within the mines.

How To Craft Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
To craft Essence Stones, you'll need access to the Stone Refinery, introduced as part of a new story quest in the March 2025 update. Constructing this facility inside the mines involves completing prerequisite quests and working alongside characters Adeline, Olric, and Errol.
To build the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of different sizes using Stone and Essence. The amount of materials required varies with the size of the stone:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
The Stone Refinery also allows you to craft other common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a valuable hub for your crafting needs in *Fields of Mistria*.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update brought the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones to function. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended duration.
The auto-petter mechanic is facilitated by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. This statue automatically pets all animals inside daily, as long as an Essence Stone is powering it. You can find this statue in a hidden cave near Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible by using the Dragon’s Breath spell. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues if needed.
The sprinkler mechanic is enabled by the Water Sprite Statue, which you can place anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more of these statues to cover larger areas of your farm. The statue and its crafting scroll are located on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Use Dragon’s Breath to enter the island.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with future updates from NPC Studio, Essence Stones are likely to play an even more significant role in enhancing your gameplay experience.
