In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the side quest “Canker” becomes accessible after completing “The Jaunt.” This quest is valuable for acquiring a mace or extra Groschen, and here’s a detailed guide on how to complete it.
Pick Up the Canker Side Quest

To initiate “Canker,” you need to have a conversation with Gules at Semine. This quest can be easily picked up during the wedding of Lord Semine and Agnes by speaking to Gules beforehand while he's enjoying his drink. However, if you visit Semine earlier, you can start the quest by talking to Gules during his patrol. Ask him about his former bandit associates and offer your assistance in dealing with them. Canker, one of these former bandits, becomes your first target.
Find and Kill Canker

Once you accept the quest, Canker’s location will appear on your map, situated north of Nebakov Mill. Be cautious on your journey, as the path is notorious for ambushes by random bandits. You can choose to evade them using stealth, engage in combat, or simply outrun them. While these encounters are generally manageable, losing health before reaching your main target can be a nuisance.
The bandit camp where Canker resides is nestled in the mountains, easily overlooked as you must pass through a narrow gap to reach it—similar to accessing the Hermit’s house during the “Wedding Crashers” quest. Prepare for battle before entering, as you will confront several bandits along with Canker.
The order in which you eliminate the bandits may cause some to flee, but it’s crucial to defeat most of them. Fortunately, Canker will not escape, ensuring you can fulfill the quest's requirement to kill him.
Finish the Quest and Return to Gules
After defeating Canker and his crew, loot Canker’s body to obtain the Light Mace, which serves as proof of your success. Feel free to take any additional items you find useful. With the mace in hand, return to Gules to complete the “Canker” quest.
After completing “Canker,” you must wait a full in-game day before you can proceed with the next quest involving Gules’ former bandit comrades. Once the day has passed, speak with Gules to begin “Handsome Charlie.”
