GTA 6 Trailer 2: PS5 and Xbox Release Confirmed, No PC Mention

The release of the second trailer for *Grand Theft Auto VI* and a significant update to its official website have sparked widespread interest, particularly regarding the launch platforms and the newly announced release date of May 26, 2026. The trailer's conclusion prominently features the release date alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S logos, confirming these consoles as part of GTA 6’s initial launch. Notably, the trailer was captured on a PS5, specifically mentioned as opposed to the PS5 Pro.

This raises questions about the PC launch and the potential for a release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Some fans hoped that the delay to May 2026 might prompt Rockstar and Take-Two to reconsider and opt for a simultaneous PC release. However, the absence of any mention of a PC version in the trailer suggests otherwise. This omission aligns with Rockstar's historical approach but feels increasingly outdated in the context of 2025 and 2026, especially given the growing importance of PC for the success of multiplatform games. Is GTA 6's omission of a PC launch a missed opportunity or even a mistake?

In an interview with IGN in February, Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted at GTA 6's eventual release on PC. He referenced the simultaneous release of *Civilization 7* across consoles, PC, and Switch, but noted that Rockstar traditionally staggers its platform releases. Zelnick emphasized the increasing significance of PC, stating that it can account for 40% of a game's sales, and sometimes more. He also acknowledged the trend of PC becoming a more critical part of what was once a predominantly console business, and mentioned the upcoming new console generation.

Rockstar fans have long noted the studio's reluctance to release games on PC simultaneously with consoles, alongside its complex relationship with the modding community. Despite this, many hoped that GTA 6 might mark a shift in Rockstar's approach to PC gaming. While big Rockstar titles do eventually reach PC, the question of when remains. Could PC gamers expect a release in the fall of 2027, early 2027, or perhaps a year later in May 2027?

In December 2023, a former Rockstar developer attempted to explain why GTA 6 would come to PC after its console release, urging PC gamers to give the studio the "benefit of the doubt" regarding its launch strategy.

As for the Nintendo Switch 2, its absence from GTA 6 Trailer 2 was expected. Although the capabilities of the Switch 2 remain unknown, it is set to receive *Cyberpunk 2077*. This led to some speculation that GTA 6, which will also launch on the less powerful Xbox Series S, might eventually be ported to Nintendo's next-gen console.
