Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for a fall 2025 release, as confirmed by its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. In their third-quarter financial results ending December 31, 2024, Take-Two reiterated that GTA 6 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, sticking to the previously announced release window without any delays.

In an interview with IGN before the financial report's release, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed cautious optimism about meeting the fall 2025 deadline. "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things," Zelnick remarked. "So we feel really good about it." When pressed about the development status of GTA 6, Zelnick remained tight-lipped, saying, "Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally. We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."

The anticipation surrounding GTA 6's release date continues to be a major topic across the entertainment industry. Rival publishers, including EA, are closely monitoring Rockstar's moves. EA CEO Andrew Wilson hinted at potentially delaying the next Battlefield title based on the release timing of competitors' games, an indirect reference to GTA 6's impact.

While the release window for GTA 6 remains firm, fans are still eagerly awaiting the release of Trailer 2. Over a year has passed since the first trailer dropped, fueling intense speculation. In the meantime, IGN offers a wealth of information on GTA 6, including insights from a former Rockstar developer who believes the studio might not finalize a decision on any potential delays until May 2025, Zelnick's evasive comments on a PC version, and expert analysis on whether the PS5 Pro can run GTA 6 at 60 frames per second.

Take-Two also reported impressive sales figures for other titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold an astonishing 210 million units worldwide, while GTA Online enjoyed a strong quarter thanks to the Agents of Sabotage update, with GTA+ memberships growing by 10% year-over-year. Red Dead Redemption 2 has surpassed 70 million units sold, and Take-Two noted it is currently experiencing its highest level of concurrent players on Steam.

Looking ahead, Take-Two has a packed schedule for 2025, including the recent release of Civilization 7 from Firaxis, PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K25 in March, Mafia: The Old Country in the summer, GTA 6 in the fall, and Gearbox's Borderlands 4 before the year ends. "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term," Take-Two stated, expressing high confidence in achieving record levels of Net Bookings in fiscal 2026 and 2027.
