GOG Revives Dino Crisis 1 and 2 for PC

The beloved survival horror classics, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, have been revived and are now available on PC through GOG. These re-releases are part of GOG's Preservation Program, ensuring that the original content remains intact and is accessible DRM-free on the CD Projekt-owned platform.

Originally launched on the PlayStation in 1999, Dino Crisis was followed by Dino Crisis 2 in 2000. A third installment, Dino Crisis 3, emerged as an Xbox exclusive in 2003, but fans have been waiting in vain for a new entry in the series ever since. Despite fervent calls for a new game or an HD remake, Capcom has shown little interest. The 2022 announcement of Exoprimal, a multiplayer action game featuring dinosaurs, was perceived by many as the final blow to hopes for a Dino Crisis revival. Moreover, in August of the previous year, the series' creator, Shinji Mikami, suggested that Capcom's focus on Monster Hunter leaves little room for a Dino Crisis reboot or remake.

The PC ports of the first two Dino Crisis games have been notoriously hard to find and challenging to run on modern systems. GOG's efforts to re-release these games are therefore warmly welcomed by the gaming community. "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself," GOG stated. "The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
