New Game Announced by Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Creators

MercurySteam, the renowned Spanish studio behind hits like *Castlevania: Lords of Shadow* and *Metroid Dread*, has just announced their latest venture: an action-RPG called *Blades of Fire*. This new title is being crafted in partnership with publisher 505 Games, promising to plunge players into a richly detailed dark fantasy world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.

The debut trailer for *Blades of Fire* reveals thrilling hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual style, and a deeply atmospheric setting. Fans of MercurySteam's previous works will notice gameplay and artistic design echoes of *Lords of Shadow*, while the environments and enemy designs bear the unmistakable mark of *Darksiders*. A highlight from the trailer is a mechanical bird, which appears to be the protagonist's key to navigating the expansive game world.

Developed on MercurySteam's own Mercury Engine, *Blades of Fire* aims to sidestep the optimization challenges that plague many games built on Unreal Engine 5, potentially offering a smoother gameplay experience.
