Freedom Wars Remastered: Crafting Powerful Weapons Guide

Quick Links

In the gripping world of Freedom Wars Remastered, set in a dystopian future, players take on the role of Sinners tasked with defending humanity from monstrous Abductors. A key to surviving and thriving in this challenging environment is enhancing your combat effectiveness through weapon and accessory upgrades. Upgrading not only boosts base stats but also allows the addition of modules for further enhancements.

Players can start upgrading their weapons early in the game, eliminating the need to depend solely on mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide provides detailed steps on how to upgrade both weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.

How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered

To begin upgrading your weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, you'll need to advance through the main story until you achieve Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, as a CODE 2 Sinner, you'll unlock the Facility Management Function through the Personal Responsibility Portal. This leads you to the Weapon Development Facility, where you can manage and upgrade all your weapons.

Upgrading requires specific resources and your hard-earned Entitlement Points. You can reduce these costs by enlisting the help of a Citizen. Various Citizens are available, each with a different Facility Manager Aptitude that affects the reduction rate. While it might seem complex at first, the system becomes intuitive once you get the hang of it.

Before finalizing an upgrade, you'll be shown a preview of the changes to your weapon's stats. The Weapon Development Facility also offers the ability to add Elements and experiment with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, you must purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.

Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?

In the early stages of the main story, missions don't typically yield high-Grade weapons as rewards. While you can buy weapons and other combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are mostly limited to Grade Level 1, making upgrading a near necessity. One of your CODE 3 Exams requires obtaining higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which allow you to upgrade any weapon to your preference and retain it, while donating lower-grade weapons found during missions to reduce your sentence and earn additional Entitlement Points.

The first upgrade in the Weapon Development Facility also unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with more achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it particularly appealing for trophy hunters. The significant damage difference between weapons of different Grades underscores the importance of dedicating time to gear improvement.

Finally, later in the game, players can access the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, further enhancing their gameplay experience.
