*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many of the series' systems, making it so easy that you hardly need to track monsters anymore. However, there's one notable exception: the Black Flame. Here’s how to track down this elusive creature in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
Around the midpoint of *Monster Hunter Wilds*’ main story, in Chapter 3, the Black Flame monster makes its appearance before vanishing into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to locate and defeat it.
Start by leaving the Base Camp and make your way to Zone 9 of the region, as shown in the map screenshot below.
As you approach Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Interact with these tracks, and your Hunter will pick up the Black Flame’s scent, automatically sending the trail to the scoutflies. This makes tracking the monster straightforward. Follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies to Zone 9, where you'll find the giant flaming crater and ultimately, the Black Flame.
Known as Nu Udra, the Black Flame is a tentacled beast that wields fire and other flame-based attacks. To make the battle more manageable, prioritize severing a few of its tentacles first. This will give you easier access to its vulnerable inner points, allowing for more material drops at the end of the fight.
It's also wise to carry Cool Drinks to combat the region's heat, as it can cause your health to deplete over time.
That’s the complete guide on how to find and defeat the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed guides on the game, including how to change your Palico's language and how to capture monsters, be sure to visit The Escapist.
