CD Projekt Red Issues Warning

The Witcher 4 developer, CD Projekt Red, has taken to social media to alert the gaming community about a scam involving beta test invitations for The Witcher 4. On April 16, via The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account, they stated that they had received reports of fraudulent invitations circulating online.

"We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using," the post emphasized.

CD Projekt Red reassured fans that any legitimate future beta tests would be announced first on The Witcher's official social media channels and websites.

First Revealed in December 2024

The Witcher 4 was officially unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the game's protagonist. This announcement stirred the community, as previous titles in the series featured Geralt as the lead character.

In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4 Narrative Director Phillipp Weber addressed the fan reactions to Ciri's new role. He acknowledged the fans' attachment to Geralt, expressing his own fondness for the character. However, Weber emphasized the team's commitment to showcasing Ciri's potential in engaging and innovative ways. "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago," he stated.

The Witcher 4 Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, also shared his thoughts on the decision to feature Ciri, expressing gratitude for the community's support. "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released," he remarked.

The Witcher 4 is set to be the most ambitious entry in the series yet, promising new regions and monsters. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
