Dark & Darker Mobile could be getting a name change from Krafton

Dark and Darker Mobile is facing a name change as Krafton terminates its agreement with Ironmace. This action, while Krafton claims is unrelated, follows a recent court ruling ordering Ironmace to pay Nexon $6 million in damages. The lawsuit centers on allegations that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used trade secrets from a cancelled Nexon project (codenamed P3) to develop Dark and Darker.

Despite Krafton's assertions, the timing of the name change and agreement termination raises eyebrows. Krafton will now independently release the mobile title, effectively making it a standalone game. The irony is not lost: Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement. Now, with Krafton seemingly moving forward with the game under a new name, the legal battle’s impact on the mobile game’s future remains to be seen. This situation opens the door for similar releases in the genre.

While the name change and severed partnership are significant developments, Krafton intends to proceed with the previously announced global launch date for Dark and Darker Mobile. However, we will provide updates should any changes occur. We hope the final product maintains the high quality we observed in our review.
