Assassin's Creed Shadows: Free Updates and DLC Roadmap Revealed

Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin's Creed Shadows, promising to enhance the game with features like new game+, additional difficulty settings, new story content, and more. This comprehensive plan was shared in a four-and-a-half-minute video update, offering fans a clear schedule for the upcoming months and detailing how Ubisoft intends to keep the community engaged with regular free updates throughout 2025.

The journey begins in early May with the release of "The Works of Luis Frois," the first of several free story add-ons. Alongside this, players can expect a Codex update and various quality-of-life enhancements. Ubisoft is also set to introduce significant parkour improvements and an updated photo mode in June. These updates are a testament to Ubisoft's commitment to listening to player feedback and continuously refining the Assassin's Creed Shadows experience.

"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that's not stopping now that Shadows is released," stated community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He emphasized that regular title updates will bring impactful additions and changes based on player input, alongside necessary bug fixes to ensure a smooth experience across all platforms.

June will see the release of another free story add-on, along with new difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and a customizable headgear option for cutscenes. These enhancements are designed to meet player demands, with even more features like new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations planned for later in the year.

The highlight of the roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," set to launch later in 2025. This expansion promises a 10-hour journey featuring new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for characters Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details are yet to be announced, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows before its launch last month.

Assassin's Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft's iconic stealth series to the backdrop of Feudal Japan. The game has already made its mark by securing a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and becoming the best-selling game of last month.
