Amazon's God of War TV series, though yet to premiere, is already set for a promising run with two seasons ordered, as announced by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Stepping into the role after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, Moore shared insights into his new project during an interview with Katee Sackhoff, his fellow alum from Battlestar Galactica.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Moore, who admits he's not a gamer but enjoys classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede, humorously recounted his challenges with modern gaming controllers. "I took a stab at it," he said, "but the controllers threw me. 'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."

For the God of War series, Moore has taken on multiple roles as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His previous work includes notable contributions to Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, as well as serving as showrunner for the acclaimed 2000s Battlestar Galactica.

Despite the change in the creative team, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. While details about the series are still sparse, it is confirmed that the show will be based on the 2018 God of War game.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level following their successful launches suggest a positive outlook for the God of War series' streaming future.
