AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Prevention

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing various gaming titles and genres, including popular choices like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. A notable example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, commenced with a Pikmin (Switch) speedrun by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and community outreach. This partnership between GDQ and the PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised collectively through various GDQ events.

A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing the game's soundtrack. This innovative approach, overcoming the challenges of copyrighted music, generated over $24,000 in donations during its 18-minute run.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, featuring a nail-biting finish between Eddie and Andy, separated by just one second. The next GDQ event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will take place in Minneapolis from July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
