As pre-orders fly off the shelves and numerous references come to light, the upcoming crossover between Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy is poised to be the most significant collaboration yet. Today, we're thrilled to reveal six cards from the set: three showcasing timeless concept art by Yoshitaka Amano, and three featuring more contemporary art by Toshitaka Matsuda.

The cards unveiled today are included in the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, part of the broader main set. These are reprints of existing cards, adorned with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new or mechanically unique cards like those recently showcased or in the previously revealed Commander decks, they boast art that spans back to the original Final Fantasy game.

Unlike the main set cards, Through the Ages cards aren't legal in Magic's Standard format (though they remain legal if the original card was already). They are essentially alternate art versions of existing cards. You can find these cards in both the premium Collector Boosters and in one out of every three regular Play Boosters, which are used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you plan on diving into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, expect to encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, which are less common, but Thrum of the Vestige, an Uncommon, is a reskin of the widely used Lightning Bolt. This particular print could significantly influence the set.
The Warrior of Light's reprinting of Jodah, the Unifier, is likely to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, featuring Amano's art from the original Final Fantasy Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has seen only one prior reprint.
These cards will be released physically with the full Final Fantasy set on June 13, while digital versions will become available on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan new to Magic, there's excitement to be had, as FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura hinted at a unique design for Sephiroth on one card, adding a mysterious twist.
